BACOLOD CITY, Philippines, July 11, 2013 – Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), the local operator of the 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores, today further expands its presence in the country with the opening of four stores in the capital city of Negros Occidental.
“We started venturing into the Visayas region by opening 7 stores in Cebu City in July 2012. This is due to the fact that about 45% of the country’s population resides outside of Luzon. We came in knowing that the market was ready and made substantial investments in logistics, organization and advertising. These efforts leave us well-positioned to benefit from growth outside of Metro Manila,” said Jose Victor Paterno, President and CEO of Philippine Seven Corporation.
The new 7-Eleven stores inaugurated in Bacolod City are located at Two San Parq Convergys, VSB Building (Bacolod Capitol), High Strip 5 and Montelibano Property in Silay City.
Key reasons for PSC’s expansion into Bacolod include the aggressive expansion of Business Process Outsourcing operations in the city, according to Francis Medina, Business Development Division Manager of Philippine Seven Corporation.
“While Bacolod is listed by National Statistics Office as the most populous city in the Western Visayas Region, we are observing improved infrastructure and increased investment activities. There is also the presence of large universities and Bacolod is among the top tourist destinations of the country,” Medina said.
PSC aims to open 20 stores in Bacolod by the end of 2013 and launch a total of 60 stores in the next 2 years.
The company is also targeting expansion into Iloilo and the rest of Negros Occidental.
PSC is currently operating over 850 stores in the country, 67% of which are franchise operated stores. The Company continues to sustain its leadership by putting stores in strategic locations and offering a product assortment that fits the market. By the end of 2013, 7-Eleven will have 1,000 stores in the Philippines.
“As PSC continues with its aggressive expansion plans, the company will continue to widen its store presence to eventually include Mindanao, making 7-Eleven truly national,” said Paterno.
