7-Eleven Trail 2016 is the third instalment of the series of annual races that began in 2014. With 35 kms of mountain bike trails, Trail 2016 is officially the biggest and toughest cross-country race in the country with a successful turnout of 1,500 participants.

The course is roughly the same as last year, but with more obstacles to challenge the riders. Obstacles include drops and rough sections which require a high level of technical skill to clear. This is in line with global trends in cross-country racing to encourage riders to improve skills as well as fitness.

Edmhel John Flores won the Male Open category for the second year in a row while 19-year-old phenom, ArianaDormitorio won the Female Open category for a third straight year.

Cycling is growing in popularity in the Philippines. It has overtaken golf as of 2015, placing at the 3^rd spot in the world’s most popular physical activity.

Part of 7-Eleven’s corporate social responsibility is holding sustainable sporting events that will promote health and appreciation of the environment.

The race can only get bigger next year as the popularity of mountain biking continues to grow.

Trail 2016 is held in partnership with Timberland Heights and this is also made possible thanks to: Selecta, Powerade, Summit Water, Locally, Del Monte, Pocari Sweat and Solar Sports. Cycling brands who supported the event were Sandugo, Shimano, Spyder, and BMC.
