June 27, 2014 – Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), franchise holder of the 7-Eleven convenience store chain, continues to expand in Visayas to bring modern convenience to almost half of the country’s population living outside Luzon.
After opening 58 7-Eleven stores in Cebu and 12 stores in Bacolod, PSC continues its aggressive expansion in Visayas with the opening of five stores in Iloilo this month, bringing a total of 75 stores in Visayas. PSC targets to open 88 more stores in the region this year.
According to PSC’s Business Development Division Manager, Francis Medina, “We are optimistic about opening more stores in Iloilo and look forward to bringing modern convenience to more Filipinos.”
The 7-Eleven stores already open in Iloilo are located at Assumption Iloilo, La Fiesta, WVCST, Uptown Place and INJAP Tower. Other 7-Eleven stores set to open in Iloilo in the next months are situated in University of Iloilo, La Paz Plaza, and JM Basa.
Aiming to dominate the Visayas market, PSC is expanding to Iloilo due to its growing economy. The province has the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) second to Cebu and sixth in the Philippines. Major real estate developers and BPO companies are now investing in Iloilo. Ilonggos have a warm reception to 7-Eleven stores shown through the stores’ high sales performance.
“7-Eleven is proud to be in Iloilo. The warm reception of Ilonggos, in terms of sales of our stores, is very overwhelming,” said Jose Victor Paterno, PSC President and CEO.
PSC targets to open 25 stores in Iloilo this year and 80 more in the next 2 years.
After Iloilo, PSC is eyeing to expand in Dumaguete City next year. PSC is also assessing the situation of Eastern Visayas (Samar and Leyte) for possible entry in 2016.
