7-Eleven launches environment initiatives through hike-and-tree-planting in Marikina Watershed

July 11 (or 7/11) is 7-Eleven Day all over the world, and as part of this milestone celebration, 7-Eleven licensees in 12 countries focused on environment awareness, protection and conservation.

Country licensee, Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC) and its corporate social responsibility arm, PhilSeven Foundation, Inc. (PFI) launched the Go Green initiative, “Hike. Plant. Save.” in support of Philippine Business for Social Progress’ (PBSP) Marikina Watershed project.

Management and employee volunteers’ participated by planting a total of 711 fruit-bearing trees in a 1-hectare agro-forestry site in Brgy. Calawis, Marikina Watershed.

The beneficiary of Go Green: Hike. Plant. Save activity is the Tulungan sa Kabuhayan ng Calawis, Inc., (TSKC) an SEC-registered farmers’ foundation that operates in Mt. Purro at the Marikina Watershed.


PSC organized other pocket events such as a special screening of Ellen Marfil’s Lakbay2Love, a movie that also tackles environmental issues and sponsored by 7-Eleven, as well as a seminar on climate change and environmental awareness conducted by PBSP.

Simultaneously, 7-Eleven also organized a tree-planting activity at Brgy. Tabunan Watershed Reforestation in Cebu City with PBSP Cebu as implementing partner. Another milestone that capped the day is 7-Eleven 200th store opening in Visayas.

Go Green is an initiative of PSC, PFI, PBSP in partnership with TSKC, Barangay Calawis, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the City of Antipolo and the Provincial Government of Rizal.
