James Hsieh, Vice-Chairman of Philippine Seven Corporation, the operator of the 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores, recently announced the appointment of Jose Victor Paterno as president effective January 1, 2005. Also appointed were Sam C.P. Liu as Vice-President , and Michael Zalamea as an independent director.
Victor Paterno, 37, joined the company in 1996. He has been company general manager, president and CEO of the logistics subsidiary Convenience Distribution, Inc. before his appointment as President. Victor is a graduate mechanical engineer from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, USA, and was part of Nestle USA’s Manufacturing Management Training Program. He held various positions at the company’s Freehold, New Jersey coffee manufacturing plant from 1990 to 1993.
Sam Liu, 36, was company Marketing Director since 2001 and has overseen a number of important marketing initiatives of the company. Seconded from 7-Eleven Taiwan, Sam is a graduate of Tam Kang University in Taipei, and earned his MBA from Ateneo de Manila University.
Michael Zalamea, 39, is a new independent director nominated by parent Company, President Chain Store Corp. of Taiwan (PCSC). Michael is currently a director of Philippine Coastal Storage and Pipeline Corp., Clark Pipeline, and Depot Co., Inc. and Wespac Holdings. He was Portfolio Manager of American International Group (AIG) in New York City from 1992-2000. He graduated BS Finance from Fordham University, and earned MBA from Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia.
