7-Eleven Hailed as Best Foreign Franchise in 2010 Franchise Awards
Entrepinoys and the King of Convenience: this year’s winning business formula.
In the recent 2010 Franchise Awards by leading entrepreneurial publication Entrepreneur Magazine, held at the Ballroom of A. Venue Hotel Suites in Makati , global convenience store brand 7-Eleven garnered three prestigious awards that clinched its spot as the number one convenience store franchise name for budding and seasoned Pinoy businessmen.
“These are the companies that have weathered economic crises not only because of the mettle of men and women comprising them, but also because of the very business systems they follow.” says Leah del Castillo, editor-in-chief of the magazine.
During the night, 7-Eleven received the award for Best Foreign Franchise, Fastest Growing Franchise, and Best in Franchising Support. Using the criteria modeled after Entrepreneur US’ Franchise 500, the local editorial board measured each business based on scales of financial strength and stability, size of franchises, and rate of growth, among others.
“The mission of 7-Eleven is to align with the local community and provide excellent, hassle-free customer service, and offer quality products 24/7,” stressed Jose Victor Paterno, President of the convenience chain brand’s official licensee Philippine Seven Corporation.
From its humble beginnings at Kamuning, Quezon City in 1984, 7-Eleven is now 500-stores strong and has permeated into the lives of Filipinos across different demographics. Proof of this is how the nationwide attention it has received for its various projects, such as the 7-Elections, a promotional activity that advocated voting during the recent presidential elections. All of these make the store the preferred convenience store retail brand of choice, as affirmed by this year’s Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise Awards.
Without doubt, 7-Eleven is indeed leading the pack when it comes to convenience.
